This is so disturbing but I have to say I'm not surprised. A focus on sex and the exploitation of women is an issue throughout the Diaspora.

As a woman in general, and a Jamaican in particular, I do find this study disturbing. Not unlike the US, sexist/violent music that promotes the objectification of women is rampant and widely accepted. However, it's important to note that the percentages seem high, but are magnified (though certainly no less important and disheartening) because the island is relatively small.

This is so awful. I learned from reading StaceyAnn Chin's memoir that this is very prevalent in Jamaica. It's so sad.

It's very disturbing, but Im not suprised either , this is another reason why I don't listen to dancehall music much either becuase I find the lyrics very insulting and violent towards women.

That's true.
