Comme des Garcons for H&M

Worldwide retail giant H&M has announced Rei Kawakubo, founder of the legendary avant garde label Comme des Garcons the latest designer to head the stores fifth womens and menswear collaborative collection. “Rei Kawakubo has been at the top of our wish list for a long time and we are thrilled that she has chosen to work with us” says H&M Creative Advisor Margareta van den Bosch. Artsy fashionistas are thrilled at the idea of Kawakubo’s eccentric Asian inspired couture transformed into practical and affordable pieces. On the heels of the hugely successful Cavalli for H&M Collection which shot the stores sales to over $10 billion last year, Kawakubo seeks similar success for her efforts by adding a children’s collection and unisex fragrance to the H&M Comme des Garcons collection.
With plans for a simultaneous debut with the H&M Toyko flagship store opening this November, the native Japanese designer couldn’t be more excited about the fall scheduled unveiling. “It is a fascinating challenge to work with H&M” says Kawakubo. H&M has also successfully collaborated with designers Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld and Viktor & Rolf in the past. For more information please visit www.hm.com
