Lone Judge to Rule in Sean Bell Police Shooting Case


The judge deciding the fate of the three detectives charged in the Sean Bell case says he will issue his ruling on Friday, April 25th.

Judge Arthur Cooperman heard seven hours of closing arguments Monday.Three detectives charged in a 50-shot barrage that killed an unarmed man on his wedding day were framed by street thugs, including two survivors seeking millions of dollars from the city, defense attorneys said Monday.

Prosecutors built their case on the unreliable testimony of friends of the victim, "a parade of convicted felons, crack dealers and men who were not strangers to weapons," James Culleton, a lawyer for one of the detectives, said in his closing argument.
