
The Parents Television Council, in conjunction with the Enough is Enough campaign, has just completed a study of two cable channels that routinely produce and promote stereotypical images of black women: BET and MTV.
Most of us already know that these Viacom channels have been the most widespread purveyors of quasi pornographic and degrading depictions of black culture.
We now have a generation of kids who have been raised with an untold number of visualizations of semi-naked, pole stripping, mute black women -- something no previous generation of children ever had. We have a generation of people who were targeted with heroic depictions of violent, merciless, materialistic, and sexually predatory black men since early childhood.
