Although I don't personally feel that there is a lack of diversity in the fashion industry because my blog Beauty Is Diverse debunks that myth, since I take the time to find the editorials, magazine covers and models from around the globe. Essence is holding an "It Girl" contest with Elite Model Management .
"A nationwide search for the new African-American “It” model. The winner --to be announced in May --will be featured in the September 2010 Fall Fashion issue of ESSENCE magazine and receive a one-year contract with Elite Model Management."

The entrance is located on Canal Street just west of Hudson (look for the Hudson Sq. Café).
Take the 1 train to Canal St. and walk one block west on Canal towards Hudson St. The building is on the southwest corner of Canal and Hudson Streets.
ID is required to enter the building
*Please wear fitted jeans and a fitted tank top or t-shirt. No make-up and very simple hair.
