"I think part of what's hampered advancement in Africa is that for many years we've made excuses about corruption or poor governance, that this was somehow the consequence of neo-colonialism, or the West has been oppressive, or racism – I'm not a big – I'm not a believer in excuses."

He's got a point.
I partially disagree with his argument. Colonialism in Africa is a complex issue and many times it is the West that has supported many governments that have turned on their own people. He must acknowledge that and the past leaders that have been killed with the help of European governments when they sought independence and control over natural resources. Many issues in Nigeria today are rooted to these issues.
He has a point but I also agree with Nu. The situation in Africa is very complex and although her leaders have the ultimate responsibility for the political turmoil, Europe and the West continue to manipulate and control revenue so that Afric is not always run by Africans.
Yes it is a complex issue for sure, but at the same time blaming colonialism hasn't solved anything.
