Judith Jamison, Artistic Director
Judith Jamison was appointed Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in December 1989 at the request of her mentor, Alvin Ailey, who personally chose her to succeed him before his untimely death. A native of Philadelphia, she studied with Marion Cuyjet, was discovered by Agnes de Mille and made her New York debut with American Ballet Theatre in 1964. She became a member of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in 1965 and danced with the company for 15 years to great acclaim. Recognizing her extraordinary talent, Mr. Ailey created some of his most enduring roles for her, most notably the tour de force solo, Cry. Continue reading here
Be a model in O's Real Women fashion shoots!
We are looking for women from ages 20 on up! All sizes and all ethnicities are welcome. Please note, it is helpful if you are located in the New York City area, since it's highly possible you will be asked to come in person for a one-on-one casting at our offices. Also, please be aware that all the photo shoots and makeover sessions occur in close vicinity to New York City as well. If you would like to take part in a casting, please email us all of your contact information, accurate sizes, and anything else you'd like us to know about you. Please also include two recent pictures of yourself: One close up and smiling with your hair down, and one full length. These need to be in JPEG format. Be sure to include all of the following information:

Winfrey collects honorary degree, speaks at Duke
Oprah Winfrey talked about courage, making wise choices and helping others during a commencement address Sunday at Duke University, which gave her an honorary degree.During her 25-minute speech beneath overcast skies, the talk show host told the 4,400 graduates and their guests that "one of the best ways to enhance your own life is to enhance somebody else's" and to "stand proudly in your own shoes while you help others stand in theirs."
"How can I help somebody else move to higher ground? That is success. That's it. That's why we're all alive," she said.
She also emphasized the need to make wise choices daily, saying, "Each of us has to stand in our own shoes. Will you stand in them in humility and compassion and courage? Every day will give you a chance to make that choice." Continue reading here
